"The Solo Reviews" - by Robin McRae

Robin's Bio
It all started in the summer of 1977. I went to a concert at the Jacksonvile
Coliseum in Jacksonville, Florida to see a band called 'Journey'. I was
completely enamored with Steve Perry as were the 15,000 other females
attending the show. As the lights dimmed to dark, a single white spotlight
forming a circle was the only thing you could see on the large stage of
speakers, amps and equipment. Dead silence.
Quietly, and almost without
notice, the band started taking the stage. Drummer, lead guatarist,
bass player and keyboardist. Suddenly, without warning, the stage exploded
and within seconds, John Waite was there, appearing seemingly out of nowhere,
in that white circle, one hand on the mike, the other suspended in the air
as he sang "Head First". By the end of that so called 'warm-up' bands set, I
was spent, soaked and screaming for more, as was the rest of the coliseum. I
stayed for the main act but, when I left that show, I was a
'Babys', John Waite fan. They blew everyone off the stage that night
and me personally.
The rest, as they say, is history. From the Babys to John's solo career to
Bad English and now, solo once again. What I like so much about John Waite's
music is his honesty, his personal experiences he relates in his songs and
his ability to go from slow, soulful tunes such as "Missing You" and "When I
See You Smile" to foot stompin' rock n'rollers like "Make It Happen", "White
Heat" and of course "Change". The range of his voice from velvety sensosness
to gravely sexiness along with that hint of English accent you can detect in
most of his songs is irresistable !!
In case you haven't noticed, I am a HUGE John Waite fan.
Thanks
Robin
