THE MAN, THE VOICE, THE MUSIC!
John Waite returned to the stage this weekend at the Sunset Station in Las Vegas.
Dressed in a black suit, and a smile a mile wide as the white spotlight hit him. It 's hard to believe that this man hasnt been on tour for six years.
The band and John were all laughs, smiles and energy as they played through the above set. Of special note were
John's new version of "MIssing You" and his heart wrenching delivery of "Suicide Life". The latter bringing the crowd
to a tearful awe struck silence.
9:30PM
Not 40 minutes after leaving the stage, John and the band were back. Kicking into a short, but upbeat version of "CC Rider" to open the second show.
Mixing up the setlist -- pulling some songs from set one and replacing others, the band, seemed to be just getting started.
When I See You Smile
Act Of Love
When You Were Mine
Imaginary Girl
Price Of Love
Saturday Night
Change
Valentine
Downtown
Missing You
Midnight Rendezvous
Head First (encore)
I-95 (2nd encore)
As John started each song, a new level of energy was generated, culminating and exploding during "Midnight Rendezvous". About halfway through the song, a look was exchanged between each band member -- they kicked it up a few notches, John ignited, grabbing the mike in classic No Brakes style!!! An electric charge exploded in the air, the crowd was on there feet surging with excitement!
Without leaving the stage John stated "Ricky has to catch a plane so I guess we will do the encore now". Remaining on their feet the crowd rocked to "Head First". The band left the stage for only moments and returned, giving special thanks to johnwaite.com (John: "Hey I have a
website!") and slammed into "I-95".
John ended by stating that the reason he "does this" is because of you (the audience) and that he would see everyone soon!
After a short rest and change of clothes, John spent 2 hours chatting with about 80 fans, each individually. John presented the winner of the Labor Day Contest, Paul Cummings, with a 30" x 20" autographed oil painted caricature. John was charming and went out of his way to autograph items (and even allowed pictures!!!!).
