Fan Experiences - Patrick
When I was in college, at Montclair State College in New Jersey, I was
lucky enough to see Bad English perform live at the college theater. I
think it was winter of '88/'89 because it snowed the day of the concert and
we were all really worried that it would be cancelled. The show, however,
went on after all. The place was packed. My friends and I had third row
seats in the center section, so we were really close to the action as John,
Neil, Jon, Dean, and Ricky, played an excellent set of songs from the 1st
Bad English record. They also performed a great acoustic version of Missing
You, with Jon Cain and Neil playing guitar.
Anyway, JCW must have been in a good mood that night because towards
the end of the concert , he removed the cap from the 1 liter bottle of
water he was drinking and proceeded to douse the first five rows with
water! I, of course, ended up with water in my eyes, and my girlfriend
turned to me with water dripping from her nose and screamed, "John Waite
just squirted water on us! John Waite just squirted water on us!" I guess
that was the audience participation part of the evening!
The concert was one of the best I had seen in a long time, and from
that point forward, I kept track of John's new music. You could call that
show my "baptism" into John Waite fandom.
Keep up the great work with the site!
