Fan Experiences - Kevin
I first heard John's magical voice way back in 1978 (when I was 11 years old), my oldest brother bought a various artists lp called "Star Party"and on it was "Isn't it time", 2 years later I managed to hunt down a copy of the single, I then ordered "Broken Heart", then the rest plus every other thing I could get my hands on that had any involvement with John in anyway. My collection has multiplied in vast amounts from the early eighties, I now have masses of vinyl, cds, promos, memorabilia, cuttings, photos, posters, autograph's and even a BAD ENGLISH platinum
disc award which I purchased in the 90's.
My hero worship of John has also resulted in starting up "NO BRAKES" - the unofficial international John Waite fanzine which has been going since May 1997. The fanzine has subscriber's from all around the world so it lives up to internatinal heading.! Issue 4 will be out in a couple of weeks and features a special John Waite interview exclusively for NO
BRAKES!
Sadly I have never been able to see John perform live or meet him, this I intend to change asap with plans for a trip to the states this year. John's music means so much to me, throughout his career and different styles I have always followed and never been let down as he always
produces such fantastic songs.
I was married last September (13th) and my wife and I had "The Choice" as our wedding song. I never let a day go by without listening to John Charles Waite!!!
Johns music has also got me in touch with some great people and friends, the purchase of a PC last year has also added hundreds more Waite fanatics to my correspondance list and I have a great time keeping in touch with as many as possible.
So twenty years on I still am as mad on John and his music. I feel my continued support will last for many years to come.Finger's crossed one day soon with any luck I may get to meet John and thank him for everthing. He is the greatest!
Thanks,
Kevin Scott
