Well were do I start. It's been so many years ago, but it just seems like
yesterday! The first time I met John was back in the late 70's. The Babys blew into
our town opening for Alice Cooper (eh'??) THAT song "Everytime I Think Of You" was
playing in my head 24-7 :) I was lucky to be able to meet John after the
concert. He was a total sweetheart! I got a couple great picture of him giving me a peck on
the cheek, had him autograph my left arm. Yes, arm. Believe me I was taking showers very
carefully making sure not to wash his autograph off! I actually wrapped my arm up in
plastic! (lol, Lets not forget this is the mind of a 18 year old.) I managed to keep it there
for some time. Actually had the thoughts visiting a tattoo shop. (crazy kid) I mean face
it John draws the cutest little self portraits of himself!
The second time I saw The Babys in concert was when the toured with Journey.
This time I was smart enough to ask John to put his autograph on paper. John I want
to tell you you are the greatest. Oh, and by the way yes that was me that gave you that
huge greeting card and tee shirt. ( I mean this card was big! about 3 feet x 3 feet)
Hmm. I wonder if he remembers about that crazy fan. (?)
Yes, my John Waite (Babys) scrapbook became one of my treasures. I was
certain that getting the autographs on paper would assure that it would (with proper
care) remain a keepsake forever. Unfortunately not so, I lost everything in a house fire.
I don't dwell on the fact that all my autographs, pictures, clippings etc.
Are gone. (well ok, but just a little)
But knowing that John is still out there, still putting out great songs.....
Is the best thing there is.
If John were to fade away, as many musicians from the 70's-80's have done.
That would be
total devastation to me.
Keep rockin' John.
You are the greatest!
