Fan Experiences - Gloria

My name is Gloria Martin. I'm from Cranston, Rhode Island and I'm married to a great guy and have 2 kids.

I have been a JCW fan since I was about 15, when Change came out. I remember the video on MTV. It was one of the first things I saw on this new thing called "cable tv". I'm 30 now.

I have had the honor of seeing John perform live only once so far - December, 1997. There was a Christmas show put on in Providence by one of our local radio disc jockey's family. For about 30 minutes in the middle of this Christmas music concert, John Waite performed in an "unplugged" style, with Shane Fontayne.

Anyway, he played a beautiful acoustic version of "Missing You" and a few selections from the new WYWM album that had just been released. During a quiet moment between songs, I just couldn't control myself from the balcony seat in which my husband and I sat. I YELLED OUT "WE LOVE YOU, JOHN!!!!"

John spoke into the mike, "I love you, too" and smiled!!!

I want to thank everyone involved with this website. I am so happy to be able to share my love and admiration for John with fans who feel the same. Before this website, I thought I was alone in this massive obsession for John's music, lyrics, or anything else. I'm glad there are others out there just as bad as me.

I'm still in the process of growing my JCW collection. I constantly play his songs. For the past 3 weeks it's been nothing but "Rover's Return" in my car. I especially love "she's the One", and although my husband can't sing to save his life, he dedicates it to me! (along with all the rest of JCW's love songs).

We will save up to go to the Fanfest in New York next year. Hope to meet John up close someday. It would be such an honor!!!
